I liked it there for awhile but then something unfortunate and unexpected happened: their internet jukebox enables clientele to play whatever they want, and sometimes this means country crooning into dubstep into country into who knows what. Then the new ownership turned it into who knows what I don’t think they even know. For the first few years I was a Novak’s guy. I like friendly and diverse people, customer-focused staff, and good music. Atmosphere was so cool too! Will definitely be returning! Well done Short North Tavern.Īn out of towner but frequent traveler to Columbus over the last decade, I am a bar guy. He asked Tom if he could make one, Tom whipped one up real quick and it was absolutely delicious! Now, we saw food coming out of the kitchen and it looked great, we didn’t eat this time but will in the future.

My husband was tired of beer and felt like having a cocktail, he wanted a Dark and Stormy, which are delicious. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. After a few games of darts we went and sat at the bar, where even as first time customers we felt like we were welcomed and wanted. Even from behind the bar he always knew when our drinks were almost empty.

So the dart area is legit and really nice and Tom, the bartender, never made us wait for a drink. I’ve never played but my husband was excited to teach me, we asked for darts and headed over to the dart boards. We sat down for a few minutes then decided to play darts. There were lots of drink options, my husband ordered a bottled beer and I actually ordered a glass of wine. The entire place was clean and comfortable, even the bathrooms. Well Short North Tavern is one of these places, it definitely screams dive bar with the exception of the cleanliness. We are new to the Columbus area and love finding unexpected treasures.
